that all the ends of the earth my fear Him
(Psalm 67:7)
I remember the first international mission project that I went on to Honduras. I remember being in awe at the number of people who called their home a multitude of elaborately engineered cardboard boxes.
I remember walking the streets of New York City and listening to the countless dialects of the people walking by wondering how they came to live in the United States and what their story is.
I remember being in Madrid, Spain and spending time with the nationals who were incredible friendly and a great joy to be with. Most, however, had no idea of what it meant to have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
I remember walking the cold streets of Moscow, Russia, totally confused because of the language barrier, and looking into the eyes of the people. As I looked at their faces I was amazed at how many seemed so sad and hopeless. I remember talking with one college student who told me that religion was for old people who needed to get right with God before they died, and up until that point they should eat, drink, and be merry.
Each of these experiences reminded me, however, of how big God is. He is God in Honduras, He is God in New York, He is God in Spain, He is God is Russia, and He is God in Winston-Salem. What a great calling we have to take the name of Jesus to all nations that people may come to know Him personally as Lord and Savior and as Psalm 67:7 says
that all the ends of the earth may fear Him
.
Listen to the words of Psalm 67.
God be gracious to us and bless us, and cause His face to shine upon usthat Your way may be know on the earth, Your salvation among all nations. Let the peoples praise You, O God; let all the peoples praise You. Let the nations be glad and sing for joy; for You will judge the peoples with uprightness and guide the nations on the earth. Let the peoples praise You, O God; let all the peoples praise You. The earth has yielded its produce; God, our God, blesses us. God blesses us, that all the ends of the earth may fear Him.
As you reflect on the majesty of God this morning, would you pause and give thanks that He is the God of all nations? Would you pray for the furthering of the Gospel throughout the world?
Would you pray specifically for the tsunami victims and their families? Would you pray for our team in Turkey as they minister to the needs of those faithful workers?
Lord, it is our desire that Your name be proclaimed in all the earth
that all nations of the earth may fear You
